Zakah (Financial Aid)

Zakah is a fundamental Islamic obligation established to promote social welfare and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood within the Muslim Ummah. Through this sacred responsibility, Al-Hidaya provides financial assistance to individuals and families experiencing hardship, ensuring support is delivered with dignity, fairness, and compassion.

Al-Hidaya’s Zakah Program serves:
    •    Members of the local Muslim community, and
    •    Needy individuals and families in different countries, particularly those affected by poverty, displacement, conflict, or humanitarian crises, in accordance with Islamic guidelines for Zakah distribution.

All Zakah applications are reviewed confidentially and on a regular basis by the Al-Hidaya Zakah Committee to ensure eligibility and proper distribution.



How to Apply for Zakah

To apply for financial assistance, applicants must complete the Al-Hidaya Zakah Application Form and submit the required supporting documentation listed below.

Required Documents (6)
    1.    Valid Driver’s License or Government-Issued ID
    2.    Copy of the first page of the previous year’s State and/or Federal tax return
    3.    Proof of residence (recent utility bill, lease agreement, or mortgage statement)
    4.    Last three (3) paychecks received (if applicable)
    5.    Canceled check or money order for rent or housing expenses
    6.    Bank statements for the last three (3) months

Applicants residing outside the United States will be helped through certified Relief organizations.



Confidentiality & Review

All information submitted is kept strictly confidential and used solely for the purpose of evaluating Zakah eligibility. The Zakah Committee strives to process applications promptly while ensuring compliance with Islamic principles and community trust
